Stave 1 — Marley’s Ghost

Ebenezer Scrooge is a wealthy man who refuses to help others and treats people coldly. On Christmas Eve, he learns that his former business partner, Jacob Marley, has died. That night, Marley’s ghost appears and warns Scrooge that his selfish choices have led to a lonely future. Marley tells Scrooge that three spirits will visit him, giving him a chance to change.

Stave 2 — The First of the Three Spirits

The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Scrooge on a journey through his earlier life. Scrooge remembers being lonely as a child, and he also recalls people who showed him kindness. He sees moments where he once felt joy, but also moments where his love of money began to grow stronger than his care for others. These memories begin to soften Scrooge’s heart.

Stave 3 — The Second of the Three Spirits

The Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge how people celebrate the holiday right now. Scrooge visits the home of his employee, Bob Cratchit, and sees the family’s warmth and love even though they are poor. He learns about Tiny Tim, Bob’s sick child, and realizes how his choices affect others. Scrooge also sees that many people find joy through generosity and togetherness.

Stave 4 — The Last of the Spirits

The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge a future where people talk about a man’s death with little care or respect. Scrooge discovers that the man is himself, and that he has died alone and unloved. He also sees a future where Tiny Tim may not survive. Scrooge becomes frightened and begs for another chance to change his life.

Stave 5 — The End of It

Scrooge wakes up on Christmas morning full of relief and joy. He realizes he has been given the chance to change his future. He begins acting with kindness and generosity, helping the Cratchit family and treating people with respect. Scrooge becomes known as someone who cares about others, and he learns that real happiness comes from compassion and connection.
