Here at Classic Books for All, we are life-long readers. As kids, we crossed paths with many of the classics, and we remember being fascinated by these mysterious books. It was only later in life that we grew to truly appreciate the complexity and beauty of these stories we all love. With our abridged versions of the world’s classics, we hope to make these classic tales more accessible for your young reader—to dispel the mystery but retain the magic.
We thoughtfully paired down the words in these great book to preserve the author’s voice and style, while at the same time making the story more understandable and engaging for young readers. We substituted “big” words for language more recognizable to young readers, we broke up long sentences into shorter ones, but we otherwise stayed true to the writer’s original intent: to tell a great story, to touch our hearts, to tickle our fancy, and to take us to worlds beyond our imagination.
